For nearly 30 years, I have been scratch building HO scale models for a model railroad set in the Colorado Rockies circa 1890.'s  Although sometimes tedious work building log cabins, engine houses, gold mines, saw mills, etc., it is also very therapeutic.

While visiting the one room school house my father-in-law attended as a child in Northeast Kansas, the pride he exhibited while reminicsing about the school house was evident.  It was that visit that prompted me to recreate the Prairie Rock School house and present it to him as a gift.
That school house has traveled to many reunions in the state of Kansas as he proudly shares the story of the model.

At the request of my father-in-law, I built the Houston house model for his longtime friend who purchased the Houston home in 2000 and spent three years renovating the home, which has been featured on HGTV.  Incorporating the new and old during the renovation has made this home a true showplace.  The majority of the stonework remains on the interior and the integrity of the history of this home was never jeopardized.  Upon receiving the model, the friend was overwhelmed, not only that my father-in-law requested the gift, but the quality of the model and attention to detail.

Presenting these two works of art to unsuspecting recipients and their reaction is very rewarding and their satisfaction is well worth all the hours invested in these projects.
